Family Portraits at the “Jewel of the Missions”

Hi Friends,

Had an opportunity to photograph Amy and Mike’s lovely family today.  We selected Mission San Juan Capistrano (the “Jewel of the Missions”) as our location – a great selection of varied textures and backgrounds make it a target-rich environment for photography.

Beautiful family – the kids were a hoot! Here’s a selection of some of my favorites from the shoot:

Thanks again to Amy and Mike for taking the time today!  And thanks to Cat for her invaluable assistance on the shoot!

Did you get a permit? How long are they allowing you to shoot inside the mission? One light? A speed light or quantum?

      Hi Cynthia,

Permits are required for some shoots within the mission. You’ll want to contact them directly for details. They did not place any time limits on us, though we were in and out in about an hour – mainly due to the little ones needing to get home for their naps! Shot with a single Speedlight / 24″ softbox, triggered with Pocketwizard Mini / Flex5.
